Last weekend we were able to go somewhere we have both been really looking forward to. We went to the Amalfi Coast. We did it in a way that I think is pretty unique, we took a little cruise. Seeing the coast from the water was very fun and relaxing. NO traffic, NO curvy dangerous roads! Just the sun and the water and the best company I could ask for.
The cruise stops for swim time off the coast of Capri at the White Grotto. Dave was brave and went in. I wussed out as I knew the water was cold but the main reason was I was concerned about getting back up the ladder onto the boat with my bad leg. Next time I won't let Dave have all the fun!

There are lots of cool sights on this cruise including a ruin of a castle said to have been a getaway for Queen Isabella to bathe in the magnificent Mediterranean waters.

After several hours on the water, and a swim stop we arrived in Positano. The place defies description as well as gravity. It is all that you imagine and a bit more.

The beach is not what most expect in a beach. It is very rocky and quiet busy. We didn't bother spending too much time by the water as we wanted to explore what we could of the town in our allotted 3 hours.

As you might expect you either walk up hill or downhill in Positano, there really is no in between. The streets are mostly pedestrian only but there are some cars and scooters about.
There is also plenty of opportunity to shop for anything from cheap tourist crap to very expensive clothing, decor and jewelry. We did pick up a couple of gifts here and the cutest cafe set you ever saw for ourselves.

We climbed nearly to the top of one side of town and found a restaurant with a fantastic view of Positano. So we sipped wine and had melon and prosciutto and fish for our luncheon with a vantage point of the city and the ocean that was something out of a movie.

We will do this cruise again I think but probably take it to the other stop in its itinerary, Amalfi. We had such a wonderful day and made a lot of memories that will last a lifetime. Here is to living the Sweet Life!
